Who We Are

Project Hastings was founded in 2020 by a group of 5 high-school students as a youth led non-profit. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest youth-driven initiatives of its kind in the country, recognized by national media (Global News, CBC News) and government leaders including Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The chapter at UBC continues this same philosophy: giving back to communities, breaking down stigma, and empowering UBC students to become agents of change. In addition to food and necessity distributions, we leverage our academic resources at UBC to curate workshops for elementary and high school students, and host public events that raise awareness and inspire policy action on food insecurity and homelessness.

As of late 2025, Project Hastings has chapters at the high-school level in Vancouver and Toronto, a university chapter at UBC, and an international chapter in Paris (France).
